Considered one of the elite Western swing dance bands in the world, The Cornell Hurd Band’s repertoire of Western Swing, Texas standards, truck drivin’ music, rockabilly, boogie-woogie, and jitterbug numbers is unmatched. The band plays all the famous Texas bars and clubs, but they are also in demand overseas. In June, 2007, they performed at the annual Red Cross Gala in Geneva, Switzerland. A year earlier, Cornell and his posse co-headlined the Country Night Gstaad Festival, also in Switzerland, with Clay Walker and Rhett Atkins. They also headlined the Country Music Festival in France in 2005.
“Western Swing? Country? Rock ‘n Roll? A show band?
Truth is, they are probably all of these things and more”.
– Steve England, Western Swing Monthly
“The extended ensemble…plays some of the tightest music you’ve ever heard”.
– Stephen W. Terrell, No Depression Magazine
“If you’re hoping for a band that values its dancers as much as it values
a solid country tune, Cornell’s your man.”
– Margaret Moser, Austin Chronicle
