Ted Roddy and The King Conjure Orchestra have paid tribute to The King at Austin’s Continental Club twice annually since 1986. Starting as a hoot night and evolving into a full-tilt rock-n-roll show experience Ted Roddy and crew have wowed audiences with their spot-on interpretations of Elvis’ musical legacy for over 25 years. No jumpsuits, no jokes just dynamite rock-n-roll a la King!
In addition to twice-annual performances at Austin’s Continental Club, the act has performed for large-scale weddings and corporate-events: clients including Austin’s I Live Here – I Give Here Campaign and Texas Monthly Magazine. Ted Roddy offers multiple versions of the band, everything from the full 13 piece orchestra to a 4 person combo, and is happy to throw in some non Elvis tunes from his massive repertoire of lounge, swing, classic country, and blues music.
The King Conjure Orchestra is made up of some of Austin’s finest working musicians, their resume’s include The Wagoneers, Rotel and The Hot Tomatoes, Dave Alvin, Burning Spear, Duck Soup and The Austin Symphony among many others.
Vocalist-bandleader Ted Roddy has his roadhouse credentials stamped with an uncommon number of musical styles ranging from honky tonk country to blues to rock and roll, Tex-Mex to soul and pop. His big voice and soaring harmonica has been rockin’ clubs, bars and juke joints since the 70’s, in and around Texas.
As a recording artist he has released records of his own as well as recordings under the name of Teddy & The Tall Tops, The Tearjoint Troubadors, The King Conjure Orchestra, The Wandering Eyes and The Naughty Ones. He was voted into The Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2000, he was honored with his own star on the South Texas Music Walk of Fame in 2009.
